TURNING MUSIC INTO ENERGY, INTO CURRENCY, INTO OPPORTUNITY

“The Thing about hip-hop today is that its smart, and insightful, and the way they can communicate a complex message in a vey short space is remarkable. A lot of these kids are’t reading the New York Times, thats not how they are getting their information. The question is, whats the content, whats the message. I understand people what to be from the community, want to be routed, want to be down, but what I always say is that hip-hop is not just a merrier of whats is, it’s also a reflection of what can be.

HIP-HOP Generation’s Audacity of Hope!”

– Barack Hussein Obama

WHAT IS THE PARKER GRANT?

The Parker Grant is a tuition based subsidy provided to students who are looking to attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The Parker Grant is for students who are earning their first bachelors degree, or who are already enrolled in certain post-baccalaureate programs, amongst participating HBCUs.

Why is this Needed Now?

Historically Black Colleges and Universities are Disappearing

Many of our Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) are experiencing economic and social erosion. Institutions are losing accreditation, closing, becoming involved in scandal, and becoming structurally unsafe. Their historical standing and significance as incubators that enroll students at any achievement level to develop them into the brightest and best in their disciplines has been impacted.  Some of our most well-respected and beloved institutions are in need of building and grounds rehabilitation, as well as, infrastructure, administrative, and academic advancements.

The identity, culture, and relevance of HBCUs is at stake. Without shifts and changes to infrastructure, administration, and the development of academic disciplines concurrent with the changes in society and in the world, all of these important institutions may eventually vanish.

THE HIP-HOP GENERATIONS AUDACITY OF HOPE!

Many Hip-Hop figures have a non-profit organization that bases their efforts on giving back to the community. “ Operation H.B.C.U. “ will provide the artist with the opportunity to demonstrate their philanthropic efforts, collectively under one umbrella. Within the walls of the educational institutions where the U.S. government has failed African American students, the hip-hop generation will exhibit its Audacity of Hope, instituting change on the campuses of H.B.C.U’s , and elevating the status quo of reality television.

Yes, We Can!

Each artist will assist the program in the area that closely relates to their reconstructive passion, drawing a connection between what they have done in their own city (their non-profit organization) with what changes they envision for Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The development process of the program will be heavily reliant on positive student interaction working together with the R&B/ Hip-hop artist towards one goal.

Promote Social Responsibility Through S.T.E.M
The Parker Grant will support curricula that promote social responsibility,
while simultaneously expanding institutions’ science, technology, engineering,
and mathematics (STEAM) programs. The results will positively impact the
African American Community for decades to come.
The Parker Grant will work with HBCUs with Hydrologic Science (the study of water)
programs to conduct annual water assessments of the drinking water of African
American Communities throughout the nation. The HBCUs will provide annual water
reports which will identify the addition of harmful additives and agents in local drinking
water. The program will also be responsible for providing healthy alternatives for
the contaminated city’s drinking supply, including purification systems and local health
water services.
The Parker Grant will aid the institution in establishing its own state of the art water
drinking system, to develop and distribute its own brand of water. The HBCU will also
engage in an international marketing campaign for its new brand of water by
distributing first to the local community, the nation, and eventually around the world.
